This post is all about business office decorating ideas! I really love it when I am hired to decorate a business office! It is very enjoyable. This job was a joy, not only because of the work but because of my wonderful client! I was hired by Beau Noblitt, who owns both of Murfreesboro’s Chick-Fil-a franchises.
His office is large enough for a seating area, and another area for his desk. Beau, already had a really fantastic desk, and a great leather couch and chairs. Most clients do extremely well choosing their furniture, which makes my job much easier. It is the next layers of design, wall decor, tables, lighting, window treatments, and accessories that can be a little more difficult.
Let me show you a few before photos:
What a great couch! The problem here is there isn’t much on the walls, and without other furniture pieces the space looks “bottom heavy”. (That is a professional design term. ha)
These chairs sit across from the beautiful leather couch. This area needs some warming up as well!
I love this desk! His gorgeous lamp was a purchase from my store. ( I have the same one! Love it!) I gave Beau a hard time about the two metal chairs. I told him if an employee had to come to chat with him, sitting in those chairs would feel like a punishment.
Business Office Decorating Ideas That are Simple and Easy
One of the first things on the list was to find Beau a cool bookshelf. He is an avid reader, so finding a unique bookshelf that fit the design of his office was top priority. Next, we re-purposed the metal chairs that sat in front of his desk with two comfortable occasional chairs.
There wasn’t a lot of space for a console behind his desk, but I found a narrow one that was wide enough for a lamp and accessories. Lighting is important, whether it is in your home or office. Good lighting helps to create a calm environment and helps productivity soar.
Beau came by JD’s and fell in love with a new oil painting that just arrived. It was a beautiful pastoral scene with grazing cows. I flanked the large painting with black candle sconces.
A cool silver hammered clock was added to the right of the t.v. along with an industrial floor lamp.
I placed a round table between the two leather chairs. The round table provides another spot for lighting, and a place to set a drinks. Beau’s office has two single windows. Instead of two drapery panels for each window, I opted for one panel for each window. Both windows were on the same wall, so one panel was placed on the right side of the window to the right, and a panel was placed on the left side of the window to the left.
This desk lamp looks amazing on Beau’s industrial office desk. The silver chrome just pops off the wood desk!
New accessories on the coffee table and accessorizing the bookshelf completed the seating area.

I had two custom pillows sewn using an attractive plaid fabric for the leather couch. And, I re-purposed a small round table to go beside the couch. On top, I placed several books and an adorable photo of Beau’s sweet wife and three precious children.
Again, this job was so much fun! I appreciate Beau for letting me share this makeover with you! Remember, when making your list of business office decorating ideas, try to keep them easy and minimal. And, “Eat More Chikin”. Have a wonderful day!
