Decorating Made Easy
I am thrilled to share with you a very special cozy house tour. My design assistant, Cole, has let us do a tour of her remarkably beautiful home. This is a 1940’s classic southern home right off of the square of Murfreesboro and it is just bursting with charm and elegance!
The first thing I notice about Cole’s house is her stunning front porch. She says this was the most daunting and time consuming project they tackled, but was well worth it! Wouldn’t you love to enjoy a cup of coffee out there?
They replaced almost everything on her front porch, but still managed to keep the character of the home. Everything was originally plastic and vinyl; they replaced it with wood and a gorgeous haint blue ceiling. In addition to the wood and ceiling, they replaced the front siding and trimmed out the windows and the door. It certainly makes a beautiful and welcoming first impression!
The first room I enter is her living room. There is a reason I called her home the Cozy House! In every room you are greeted with warmth and charm.
They had no idea this fireplace existed when they purchased their home- what an amazing find! Her husband, Nick, was in the basement and noticed the brick. Furthermore, they removed the drywall and found this gorgeous original fireplace. She painted it and Nick made the corbels. Without a doubt, the warmth and texture it adds to the room is absolutely beautiful!
Next, I see her dining room and it absolutely takes my breath away. Nick made these mirrors that just fit the space perfectly!
The exposed brick is one of the first things I saw featured in Cole’s house on her Instagram. The wood just compliments the brick beautifully.
Cole has a simple buffet with two buffet lamps on top. She painted this painting herself- how talented is this couple?!
Their first kitchen project was painting the cabinets. They were a bright yellow that she painted with Annie Sloane chalk paint called French Linen.
Next, they started on the backsplash. They put up subway tile, but it felt much too modern and did not fit the character of the rest of the house. So, they replaced it with bead board. I never would have thought of using bead board but it works perfectly in their classic, Southern home!
In addition to painting the cabinets, Cole added this gorgeous glass cabinet that gave the room depth and interest. Everything is just styled beautifully!
The next stop on her Cozy House Tour is the nursery. Just like the rest of her home, it is just happy and timeless. The paint color she used is Nimbus by Sherwin Williams- gorgeous!
After the nursery we see her guest bathroom. Her bathroom makeover is absolutely jaw-dropping! She completely transformed this bathroom on a budget.
You are going to want to check out her before photos and find out how she did this for pennies on the dollar. Click here to see her small bathroom makeover video! Her bathroom makeover is also featured here along with some other gorgeous transformations!
Next, we go into her husband’s office upstairs. First of all, this is the tidiest office I have ever seen. I love the artwork she chose, the oversized frames are just perfect. They added this gorgeous trim on the walls that gave the space more character and texture.
Finally, the last room I am sharing is her guest bedroom. It is so welcoming and cozy. Like most of the rooms in her home, every piece has meaning and sentiment. This gorgeous bed belonged to her grandparents and is a timeless treasure- as is her entire home.
Thank you to Cole for sharing her home with us!

Looking for ways to give your small bathroom a makeover on a budget? These rooms are often overlooked but are so easy to give a refresh! I have three small bathroom makeovers I am so excited to share with you- all of them done under $350!
The first bathroom is this gorgeous bathroom by Marissa @HerrHome. She transformed her bathroom on a budget and it is stunning! Check out her before photo below.
The first thing she started with was her vanity. The glass detail on the front needed updating. She found- get this- peel and stick grass cloth! This was an aboslutely briliant idea.
She covered the glass and began painting the vanity.
Super easy, time consuming, but easy! She saved a ton of money doing it this way!
Next, she painted the mirror. It was the perfect size so she had no need to find a new one. It is amazing how you can transform pieces with just a little bit of paint! She added a little chalk paint and lightened up the entire space beautifully! Look how it even matches the grass cloth.
I will be honest, I have never thought about flamingos for bathroom wallpaper, but it is absolutely beautiful! This bathroom makeover blew me away. She completely transformed this room on a budget! Thank you to Marissa @Herrhome for sharing with us.
The next bathroom makeover I’m excited to share with you is Cole’s from @ColeWorlld. She is a popular Instagrammer and one of my design assistants. Cole’s home is a 1940’s home in downtown Murfreesboro. You can check out her full home tour here!
Anyways, back to her bathroom, her bathroom makeover was done for $350! Check out her before picture below!
The first thing they did was add some board and batten.
Next, they tackled the floors. This flooring had several layers! Her and her husband, Nick, did a fabulous job of getting it up and they added long marble tiles that they purchased from Lowe’s.
Next, they removed the pedestal sink and replaced it with a sink they found at Lowe’s. It was brown and they painted it the same color they painted the walls. This gave an illusion of a larger space- brilliant!
This bathroom makeover is just stunning!
The final bathroom makeover I wanted to share with you is from my own home! We have so many projects we are wanting to tackle so I knew this small bathroom would get pushed to the bottom of the list. So I thought, what’s the cheapest way I can fix it up a little bit? So I did just like Marissa, I painted the vanity a pretty blue color. Putting the paint on immediately updated it!
The coolest thing that I did in here was update the tile. It was brown and looked very dated. I decided to try painting it! You can check out my full video here on how I did this.
In a nutshell, I painted it two coats and then lightly sanded it. It looks like old world tile and it was so inexpensive! It immediately transformed our bathroom!
