Create a fun room for your little guy!
Boys bedroom ideas can sometimes be difficult to find. Especially, if you are on a budget! I love looking at Pottery Barn kids rooms, but duplicating their look can be really expensive!
So, here are some ideas that will help you with decorating boys rooms on a budget. Remember, you don’t have to copy exactly what I have done. The key is learning how to come up with inspiring ideas that don’t empty your wallet!
The first thing you need to do before you begin shopping, is decide what boys bedroom ideas you and your little guy can agree on. Come up with a theme, and make a list of things you need.
The theme of this room was transportation and sports. The two cars and stop sign wall decor came from Hobby Lobby. They are made of metal. The truck was red also, so I painted it blue with acrylic paint, and coated it with a sealer.
If you find an accessory that isn’t quite right, remember you can paint almost anything! I found someone on Etsy that makes wooden letters in any color! EVERY child loves to see their name on the wall. That is one of the cheapest wall decor ideas.
Boy’s Wall Decor
I don’t know about you, but sometimes it is difficult to find kids’ room wall decor that I really like. You really have to hunt to find unique ideas.
There are some fabulous ideas for wall murals for kids, but that can get pricey. So, that is why my favorite wall decor items are wood letters, and wall decals. They are inexpensive and look great.
There are some wall decals that can look rather “cheesy”. I love the wall decals from Layla Grace. You can chose to have them personalized, or chose wall decals that center around a theme.

Another great choice is to use wood letters. Again, this is a cheap decorating idea for a boy’s room.
I found this lamp at Hobby Lobby during their half off sale. I decided to add a wooden letter, so I painted it blue, and hot glued it onto the wooden star. Again, personalizing a boys bedroom makes it special.
Boys Bedding
Two little brothers sleep in this room. Mixing a little sports into the bedroom theme gave me more options for finding different wall decor.
If you find a bed set you are crazy about — great! But, you don’t have to have a matching set. Boys room bedding can be mixed and matched from different stores. Just make sure your colors coordinate.
You don’t want to overdo too many accessories in a child’s room; choose wisely.
Cowboy Room
Okay, this room was an absolute hoot to decorate! If you want some boys bedroom furniture that has a look that can’t be found anywhere else, the flea market, antique stores, and junk stores are a treasure trove!
I found some old wood at the flea market, and my husband and I collaborated on a design, and he built this fabulous headboard.
I found the metal sign above the bed at the flea market also! Actually, I pretty much decorated most of this room from things I found at the flea market!
How awesome is this cowboy? Yep, you guessed it, the flea market! Once you have a theme decided for your boys room, you would be surprised how easy it is to find wall decor and unique accessories.
This is another example of “you never know what you will find”, when shopping at the flea market or junk stores. I love this lamp!
Boys window treatments don’t have to be extravagant or expensive. A simple box pleat curtain, roman shade, or a bamboo shade is all you need to give the windows some color and character.
Again, trying to come up with neat kids bedroom ideas and incorporating them in accessorizes is what pulls a room together. Just remember to choose your accessories carefully. Don’t overcrowd a room with too many items. Remember to stay with your theme. Here I chose things that still go along with being a cowboy.
Group things together on the wall. Think outside the box when it comes to wall decor. Pictures are not the only thing you can hang on the wall.
Paint an Accent Wall
Paint an accent wall in your boys room. Sometimes a darker color painted on all four walls, looks too dark. An accent wall is perfect.
